據國外媒體報導，Google CEO Larry•Page在Google+上宣布，Google Play的Android應用下載量突破500億次，這個數字是Apple iOS應用商店App Store同期下載量250億的兩倍。Android設備的日激活量已經已經達到150萬部，目前全球已有7.5億的Chrome用戶。

一般來說，Apple和Google兩家公司在每年夏天舉行的開發者大會上都要發佈各自應用商店的業績表現。去年夏天在兩家公司各自召開的開發者大會上，Apple和Google都公佈了他們付給自己應用商店開發者的報酬數字。在當時之前的12個月， Google Play付給開發者的報酬是50億美元，而iOS App Store付給開發者報酬為100億美元。鑑於Android用戶數兩倍於iOS用戶，這意味著在應用商店中每個iOS用戶平均產生的營收約是Android用戶平均產生營收的四倍。

今年Apple公佈了同樣的數字——100億美元，但Google沒有給出數字。在過去12個月，谷歌Google Play應用下載量達到500億，而蘋果iOS App Store下載量為250億，兩家相比好像Google Play增長更快。不過，Google Play用戶數量增長的多，這意味著Android和iOS用戶的平均下載量其實差不多。
