在2045年，火星上經歷了一場喪失所有文明及科技發展的劫難。身為神秘陰謀下倖存的一名太空員，玩家將面對嚴苛的環境，在星球上展開調查並蒐集、有效運用有限的資源，讓自己生存下去。最終能否揭開謎底、重拾記憶並逃離火星都與取決於每個行動與選擇。

《火星漫遊》擁有自由開放的世界任玩家隨意探索，透過第一人稱的視角經歷擬真的火星環境、日夜移轉以及極端的氣候變化。氧氣量、體力、飢餓及口渴度等生存條件會隨著時間下降直接威脅生命，玩家需掌控適當的探索距離，以便在最短的時間內回到火星艙上，獲得喘息的機會。當熟悉火星的地理位置後，可以藉由駕駛自動車來趕路、挖礦蒐集材料，再使用3D列印做出生存道具，擁有更為充裕的能量。條件允許下，還能當個愜意的農夫盡情地種植各種農作物，控制培育艙的濕度、溫度、澆水時間間隔等等，用自己的勞動的成果做幾道菜來提升健康程度。

為了還原火星上最寫實的環境，團隊特意前往中國青海培訓太空人的「火星村」做考察，也向美國布朗大學行星科學領域的博士諮詢火星相關背景知識。在精細的研究之下，打造出讓玩家彷彿身歷其境的火星世界。在背景音樂的製作上，則請到Soma Tone製作團隊譜出的高品質音樂。製作人表示《火星漫遊》做為團隊第一個研發的遊戲，或許未能呈現製作上最好的一面，但絕對是他們傾注最大心血的成果。在期望遊戲成為文化的載體同時，也希望藉由玩家的反饋幫助團隊設計出更加亮眼的作品。
